Please review ALL information on this page before registering:

Registration & Arrival Information

  1. Advance registration is required for tryout participants. Players not registered by the April 14, 2024 at 11:59PM may not be permitted to participate.
Please use this link to access the OWHA's Registration System: http://BarrieWHA.rampregistrations.com.

*** Registration will be open the last week of March ***

  1. Tryout participants do not need to start at the AA level for each age group - participants should consider the team/level that is appropriate for them to begin tryouts based on their individual skill level. (Please see the important eligibility note below concerning our U15-A/U18-A teams). However, tryout participants for each team/level must attend the first session for that team (1A, 1B). All tryouts after the first session for each team are by invitation only. Participants may not join tryouts for a team after the first session unless granted permission in advance by the coach.

  2. The tryout registration fee paid covers participation for all teams within the age group. Players not invited to return to the next tryout for any team, or who are not among the final selections for a team, may attend the first tryout session for the next team, without additional registration.

  3. The BWHA has a rule concerning tryout eligibility when there will be two or more teams categorized at the same age group and level, which will apply to our U15-2/U15-3 and U18-2/U18-3 teams since they will all likely be categorized as “A” teams. Players must make themselves available for selection to U18-2 team in order to be eligible to be selected by the U18-3 team. Any player who does not make themselves available for selection by the U18-2 team, or otherwise withdraws from the tryout process before the final selections for this team are made, will not be eligible for selection to the U18-3 team. Such players may rejoin tryouts at the start of our U18-4 team.

  4. The first session for most teams has been divided into 2 groups: Session 1A is for players with last names that begin with A-L, while Session 1B is for players with last names that being with M-Z. Some minor adjustments may be required after registration is closed - players will be contacted if adjustments are required.

  5. Players should plan to arrive 30-60 minutes before the posted started time of the tryout session. All players must check-in with team volunteers outside of the rink. Late arriving players may not be permitted entry.

  6. Tryout jerseys will be assigned to each player and will be kept for all tryout sessions for that team and must not be switched. Players invited to the final tryout for each team will return their jersey at the end of the session. Players not invited prior to the final session for a team must bring their jersey to the 1st tryout session for the next team. Jersey deposits will not be collected this season - instead a $5 jersey usage fee has been added to each tryout registration.

Tryout Fees & Eligibility

The BWHA will use a flat-fee registration system for tryouts again this season - all participants will register only once and pay the same registration fee regardless of the level at which they start tryouts.

  • To be selected to one of our U9, U11, U13, U15 or U15 competitive teams for the 2024-2025 season, players must register for and participate in the spring tryout process. (Health exceptions for those unable to participate will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact [email protected] for more info)

  • The BWHA has a rule concerning tryout eligibility when there will be two or more teams categorized at the same age group and level, which will apply to our U15-2/3 and U18-2/3 teams since they will both likely be categorized as “A” teams. Players must make themselves available for selection to U15-2 and U18-2 teams in order to be eligible to be selected by U15-3 and U18-3 teams. Any player who does not make themselves available for selection by the U15-2 and U18-2 teams, or otherwise withdraws from the tryout process before the final selections for this team are made, will not be eligible for selection to the U15-3 and U18-3 teams. Such players may rejoin tryouts at the start of our U15-4 and U18-4 teams.

  • Players who were registered with another OWHA association for the 2023-2024 season (or before) will require a valid Permission to Skate form issued by the current or last association. See our Permission to Skate form for more information.

  • If selected to one of our BWHA Competitive teams, registration with the BWHA will trigger a release from the player’s previous association and the transfer of their membership to the BWHA. Players must ensure that all requirements for release from their previous association are met.

  • Players who have previously played with an Ontario Minor Hockey Association team are eligible to tryout for registration, with no further action required, so long as they have never been registered with an OWHA association - otherwise a Permission to Skate form is required.
